Almond Halwa

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Almonds
  • 1 cups Whole Fat Milk
  • 3 tbsp Ghee/ Clarified Butter
  • 2.5 cups Sugar
  • 2 pieces Cardomon
  • a pinch Food Color/ Saffron

Instructions

Preparation

  • Soak almonds for 4 hours in water and then peel the skin.
  • Add blanched almonds and milk in the food processor.
  • Grind until it forms a smooth paste. This paste should be thick but should be able to flow through.

Sweet

  • Heat 1 and a half tbsps of ghee in a large pan and add almond paste.
  • Stir it in and add sugar and stir well.
  • After the sugar melts and the mixture starts to splutter, add the remaining ghee.
  • When the halwa thickens and ghee leaves the sides, add saffron strands or food color.
  • Top it with powdered cardamom and serve.

Notes

Keep in medium flame and keep stirring to avoid halwa getting burnt.
